Studies have shown that learning is most effective when it:

• Arouses emotions such as interest, curiosity or even awe
• Is personally relevant, ties in with meaningful goals in life or salient problems
• Happens in a way that allows movement of the body
• Happens in an environment that provides structure, but allows autonomy, and most importantly, play
• Takes place in, or as close as possible, to the real-world situation that requires the new skill or knowledge
• Happens together with others
